Jet-boat the Shotover Canyon rapids
About This Experience
The Shotover Jet runs purpose-built jet boats through the narrow, rock-walled Shotover River canyons at speed, skimming within centimetres of the cliff faces before spinning the boat through a full 360° turn. It's been operating since 1965 with no reported major injuries, run by drivers who know every rock in the canyon by heart. The 20-minute ride covers a stretch of river once mined for gold during the Otago rush, with old mining relics still visible from the water.
