About This Experience
The 120km drive from Te Anau to Milford Sound is regularly rated one of the world's great scenic drives, climbing through beech forest and the glacier-carved Eglinton and Hollyford Valleys before switchbacking up to the Homer Tunnel — a 1.2km single-lane tunnel blasted through solid rock in the 1950s. The road emerges into the dramatic Cleddau Valley on the other side, with Mitre Peak visible for the final descent into Milford Sound itself.
