Milford Sound
Waterfalls cascading straight off the cliffs
About This Experience
Milford Sound's cliffs are laced with waterfalls, from the two permanent falls — Lady Bowen Falls and Stirling Falls, both over 150m — to dozens of temporary ones that appear within hours of rainfall and vanish just as fast. Fiordland receives over 6 metres of rain a year, so a wet day here isn't a disappointment; it's often when the fiord looks its most dramatic, with silver threads of water streaming off nearly every cliff face.
