About This Experience
Abel Tasman's calm, sheltered waters make it one of the best places in New Zealand to learn sea kayaking — or simply enjoy it. Guided trips paddle out from Mārahau or Kaiteriteri past granite headlands and empty beaches, stopping to swim, spot seal colonies on the rocks, or land for lunch on sand you'd otherwise need a three-hour walk to reach. Half-day, full-day and multi-day freedom-camping kayak trips are all available, with double kayaks making it an easy outing even for first-timers.
