Lake Tekapo & Aoraki
Views straight to Aoraki/Mt Cook
About This Experience
Aoraki/Mount Cook, New Zealand's tallest peak at 3,724m, dominates the horizon from Lake Tekapo on a clear day, its permanently snow-capped summit rising above the Two Thumb and Liebig ranges. The mountain holds deep significance in Māori tradition as an ancestor of Ngāi Tahu, and its foothills hold the country's largest glaciers. Scenic flights from Tekapo circle the summit and land on the Tasman Glacier, giving a closer view than the drive to Mount Cook Village alone.
